I live with my husband and my young son, Ryland, in beautiful Devon in the South West of England. I teach Creative Writing, English Literature and English Language A-levels at a local FE college.


I’ve enjoyed drawing since I was a kid and the arrival of Ryland has renewed my delight in imaginative illustration. While Ryland napped I used my maternity leave to draw the Alphabet Animals poster for his nursery, which was immense fun - in particular in attempting to capture the character of each animal. I am now exploring other characters and scenes in the hopes of writing some storybooks for Ryland. See my blog for information about my other projects.


I am inspired by the lighthearted illustrations of Quentin Blake and my ambition is to develop a similar lightness of touch with my own style, and to amuse and enchant as he has done.


I aim to draw swiftly and accurately and to capture an essence of what’s in my mind. To show you what I mean here are a couple of doodles of a dog  and a cat. 30-second sketches are a good daily discipline:
